Coco Chanel once said, ‘If a woman is badly dressed, it’s the dress we’ll notice; but if she is impeccably dressed, it’s the woman herself we’ll notice.’
So what do your clothes say about you? Here I found out from Australian Celebrity Stylist; Ivanna Fontana her top 10 tips on ways you can edit your wardrobe.
1. Start by taking out your 5 favourite pieces, ie: basics, pair of jeans, white shirt, blazer (this will help you decide what to keep and what to let go!)
2. Also put aside your ‘go-to outfits’ you would normally wear on a weekly basis, this may be for work, around the house, going shopping etc
3. Eliminate anything that didn’t make the cut with those outfits, if you haven’t worn it in the past year – time to say Goodbye! LESS IS MORE
4. If something is an investment piece or a vintage piece, then I understand! STORE IT – make life easier for yourself.
5. Colour co-ordinate your wardrobe & accessories, or why not merchandise your wardrobe, meaning if you can arrange your wardrobe in categories, ie: basics, tops, jackets, bottoms etc this will make life easier when you are styling an outfit.
6. Ensure you can see everything easily including your shoes, if you can’t see them you won’t wear them – you want to mix it up and not wear the same shoe. over and over again
7. Avoid double hanging items on the hangers, I can guarantee you will forget you have these items in your wardrobe.
8. Once you have created outfits in your wardrobe that suit your body shape, take photos so you can refer back to.
9. Work out what pieces you need to invest in to re-work back into your wardrobe, avoid buying the same style that you never wear. Once you know your body shape you can style accordingly.
10. Biggest tip – Invest in a stylist to do this for you and learn what works best for YOU and your style! Re-invest your wardrobe with AUDIT http://www.facebook.com/audtt.au (FB page)
