We caught up with best selling author, popular columnist and Channel 7 news reporter; Sam Brett.
SA: Tell us a bit about your career path?
Sam: I always wanted to be a news journalist – so fresh out of university I headed to New York to do an internship with the Fox News Channel. It was there that I really got a passion for international breaking news. When I returned to Sydney I was given a column with the Sydney Morning Herald – which I wrote for, for about six years. It was an amazing opportunity to be given a column at such a young age and gave me the opportunity to publish a few books and really connect with the community reading my column. I wanted to get back into hard news and so I moved to the country to earn my stripes for a few years. I am currently a news reporter for the Seven Network in Sydney and love every minute of my job!

SA: Where is one place you would go on holiday?
Sam: Anywhere near a beach with warm weather! I love Hawaii for the sun and surf.
SA: One of your favourite ways to unwind?
Sam: One of my favourite ways to unwind is to go to the gym and just run it out on the treadmill!

SA: 3 beauty products you are currently obsessed with?
Sam: I love shellac nail polish – it lasts for ages. I also love Chanel lumber foundation and Diptyque perfume.
SA: 3 fashion items you are lusting after right now?
Sam: A crisp white shirt from Scanlan and Theodore, Charlotte Olympia flats and an Alexander Wang bag.
SA: What inspires a story for you?
Sam: Getting to talk to real people about their incredible stories is often very confronting. When people let us inside their homes, their lives and their families, it is often difficult for them and I find it inspiring to learn from them and their struggles.
SA: Favourite place to shop in Sydney?
Sam: Sydney CBD.
SA: A restaurant hot spot for you in Sydney is?
Sam: I love all Sydney restaurants but my favourite would have to be Spice Temple.
SA: What’s in your handbag?
Sam: A notepad, my iPad (I like to take lots of notes!), a green juice, a Mac lipgloss, foundation, Rayban sunglasses and dry shampoo!
